Our Philosophy
Acknowledgement of Country: We would like to Acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work, learn and play and pay our respects to Elders Past, Present and Emerging.
Identity
We believe that every child is a unique individual and has the right to be respected and valued for who they are. Our Kinder values inclusion, diversity and equality. We recognise the competence and capability of all children to be active participants in their learning.
Wellbeing
We prioritise and work always towards the health, safety and wellbeing of all children. We actively promote healthy eating and an active lifestyle but equally value and integrate emotional, social and mental wellbeing as an important foundation for every young child.
Communication
We recognise the importance of communication and its rapid development in the early years of a child’s life. We believe communication comes in many forms and aim to embed multiple modes in our interactions and program including alternative and augmented methods such as Key Word Sign and visual communications.
We acknowledge the first nations Yorta-Yorta language and integrate it into our program with respect and indigenous consultation.
Community
We believe that families are the first and most important educators for their children and in the importance of respectful and collaborative partnerships in regards to their Kindergarten experience.
We seek to be a positive and welcoming place, inclusive of all members of the community.
We believe our Kindergarten is part of a unique and thriving community and we value maintaining close relationships and links with the businesses, schools and local people where we live, work, learn and play.
Learning
We follow a free-flowing, play-based educational program with a diverse range of open-ended experiences and utilising both the indoor and outdoor learning environments. We aim to recognise and support individual strengths and to extend each child’s interests and capabilities.
We seek to empower children to drive their own learning and instil dispositions for learning such as curiosity, co-operation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and reflexivity.
Our pedagogy is seated in respectful and reciprocal trust-based relationships.
Our program is based on responsiveness to children and in working towards individual learning goals for each child’s unique needs, capabilities and development.
We are committed to ongoing professional development and reflection to ensure we are always enhancing and updating our knowledge and skills.
