In July 2020 Shine Bright EYM – Swan Hill North were ecstatic to receive a Junior Landcare Grant to create a Bush Tucker Garden. Funds of $1581 will create a Bush Tucker garden, providing an immersive activity, planned to continue on for future years through the planting, growing and consuming of native Bush Tucker. It is hoped the Bush Tucker program will continue to build and strengthen the service to the local community.

The Victorian Government is funding these grants to provide young Victorians in schools, groups and communities an opportunity to participate in outdoor, hands-on, on-ground projects, and environmental learning activities that provide both environmental and educational outcomes, as well as health and social benefits.

VIVID a local disability support service has been employed to build the garden beds, also educating staff and the students on the services they provide in the community.

Soil has also been delivered. Originally it was planned for Kindergarten families to collect the soil, however due to the upgrading in size of the garden beds, a larger vehicle was required, to the amusement of the children attending on the day, enjoying the sights of the soil being tipped into the yard.
